This part of our
operation began by chance. We intended to be heavily involved in seed
wheat production and did so for a long time. We purchased a used Clipper
49-D traveler to clean our own certified seed wheat.
It became apparent rather quickly that farmers in the area would rather
hire someone like me to come to the farm and clean their seed to eliminate
the possibility of variety and crop mixing.
In 1977, a neighbor and I found a couple of used cleaners at an elevator.
One was a Clipper 68-D and the other was a Howe. We had lots of cheat
in the area that year and we processed over 500,000 bushels for neighbors
and elevators.
In 1979, a new Clipper
Super-X 298-D cleaner was offered at a good price. It was mounted on a
20' gooseneck trailer and powered by a Ford diesel engine and generator.
We built
several of these cleaners for sale. We sold the last one of these machines
in 1997.
Most of our machines were built using clipper cleaners, both new and used,
and we also built some using Crippen machines.
Clipper
developed the Conquest steel framed cleaner. We purchased the first one
with the bottom air capability. It was mounted on a custom made trailer
complete with diesel engine, generator, and wind funnels.
We expanded rapidly and today, we process seed all over the western half
of Oklahoma, including the Panhandle, and Texas Panhandle.
Our cleaner is especially good for dockage removal in grain on the farm
or in the elevator.
Elevator cleaning has become one of our specialties in the last few years.
Our machines have worked in more than 30 elevators in Oklahoma and Texas.
In 2002, we processed over 1 million bushels of seed and elevator wheat.
